Coin Clutch {Tutorial}

Coin Clutch Tutorial

Supplies
- Fabric
- zipper
- Pearls
-sewing essentials

Here's what to do:
First cut all of your pieces out.
{2} 5.5" (H) x 4.5" (W) pieces of the outer fabric
{2} 5.5" (H) x 4.5" (W) pieces of lining fabric
{2} 1.5" (H) x 2.5" (W) of outer fabric for zipper end covers
I started out with a 7" zipper but I cut it down to 4 inches.

Now take your zipper and your zipper end covers.
Fold your zipper end covers in half then unfold them. Now fold each end into the middle from where you folded them in half.
Fold one over each end of the zipper and pin.
Now sew them onto the zipper so they will look like the picture above.

Lay one of your outer pieces down right side up. Lay your zipper face down on that with the pull on your left. Now lay one of you lining pieces over that making sure that everything lines up. Your zipper should be centered.

You can use your zipper foot on your sewing machine for this part. Sew the top making sure not to hit the zipper.
Now flip your lining piece over so the zipper is on the outside & do the same with the other pieces of fabric you have left. Lay your outer right side up and the now zipper with fabric with the zipper facing down and the pull to the right this time. Lay your lining piece on top of all of that. Sew at the top being careful not to hit the zipper. After you do both sides you can top stitch on each side of the zipper 1/4" inch.

Next put your outer fabric so the right sides are facing each other and the lining so they are facing each other. You are going to sew a 1/4" seam around the whole outside leaving a 2" gap at the bottom of the lining so you can turn it right side out.
**Make sure you do not sew the zipper end covers, sew around them.

After all of that you will want to pull the outer fabric through the gap you left to turn it right side out. Sew shut your gap you left in the lining & push the lining back into the bag.

Now your coin clutch is done! You can embellish it however you like. I did mine by adding rolled rosettes with pearl accents.

Good luck! If you have any questions you can email me at dominiquesboutique@yahoo.com.

Happy Sewing!
